Don’t know where to start? Well try this practical, part-time Level 1 course - designed to offer the unemployed and other young people a head start and the chance of a job in construction.

How it works: The course runs for 2-3 days per week for between 5-9 weeks.

You can continue to claim benefits if you are unemployed

There’s lots of hands-on, practical work with the chance to gain new skills or improve existing ones: You’ll gain an industry-recognised, accredited certificate at Level 1

The course also provides revision material towards your CSCS card

You’ll have the opportunity to go on a 2 week work placement with a local employer

Or look at specialising in a trade of your choice at Level 1 and possibly Level 2. For the right student, there is also the opportunity to join one of our apprenticeships courses

Q I’ve already got some building experience but no qualifications. Is this course for me?

A Yes. In our experience, this course gives candidates confidence and a real qualification that employers will recognise. There’s the chance to specialise later and you may even be eligible for an apprenticeship place.
Q I really need a CSCS card. Is it worth me doing this course?

A Yes, as you’ll be brought right up to date on the latest health and safety information and given the chance to practice the test on one of our computers. The additional skills you will gain on this course will also help improve your employability.
Q I’m not receiving benefits. Can I still do the course?

A Yes. As long as you are 23 or under.
Q What if I miss the start of the course?

A Don’t worry. This course is “roll on, roll off” which means you can join it any time.
Q Will I still be able to sign on?

A Yes, and you will continue to receive unemployment benefits as before.
